殘疾婦女兼具「婦女」和「殘疾」的雙重特質，我們的需要一直被社會大眾的忽視，遇到的困難亦較一般婦女及殘疾人士更為複雜，所以我們藉香港女障協進會(簡稱女障)成立，讓各類別的殘疾婦女表達意見，爭取我們合理的權益。
女障成立至今，一直關注殘疾婦女的權益，透過舉辦不同的活動，加強會員之間的聯繫，為有需要的會員提供直接的支援服務。聯絡本地及海外的婦女團體 (殘疾或非殘疾)，分享及討論各項與殘疾婦女生活質素有關的社會政策和實際經驗。
過去我們主要工作有政策倡議，希望制訂有殘疾婦女代表的中央機制，廣納殘疾婦女的政治及社會參與，我們積極參加不同聯席的會議，透過不同渠道，推動殘疾婦女運動。另外為使殘疾婦女知道婦科檢查的重要性，我們舉辦有關預防婦女疾病的講座，並多次安排會員到醫院使用婦科檢查服務。
We, Women with disabilities (WWD), have the double characteristics of "Women" and "Disability". Our Needs have all along been neglected by society. We encounter more complicated problems than ordinary women and men with disabilities. Hence, we founded the Association of Women with Disabilities Hong Kong (AWDHK) through which women with different types of disabilities can voice their views and fight for their rights.
Since our establishment, we have focused our attention on the rights of WWD. Through various activities, members are bound together. We provide direct services to those members in need. We liaise with local and international women's organizations (for ordinary and disabled women) and we share with them our experience and discuss social policies relating to the quality of life of WWD.
In the past, our main emphasis has been on policy initiatives aiming at setting up a central policy formulation mechanism to include WWD representatives so as to enhance their social and political participation. Through different channels and joint efforts, we promote the WWD movement. Besides, to arouse the awareness of WWD about the importance of Cervical Cancer Screening, we held talks on prevention of Cervical Cancer and arranged members for Cervical Cancer Screening in hospitals.
Having attended a number of local and international conferences on women's issues, we found that there had been lack of the discourse on WWD's issues. Thus, the AWDHK hosted the first regional conference on WWD's issues with the theme "Innovation and solution oriented" in Hong Kong in January 2008. The aim of the conference was to discuss the problems faced by WWD in East and south-east Asia and find out solutions.

香港女障協進會(簡稱女障)，為香港首個關注殘疾婦女權益的自助組織。女障於新世紀的首個國際婦女節(2000年3月8日)正式成立，並於2004年正式註冊為非牟利慈善團體。
The Association of Women with Disabilities Hong Kong(AWDHK) is a self-help organization run by and for women with disabilities. As the first organization of its kind in Hong Kong, the Association was founded on 8th March 2000 and has been registered as a charitable organization since 2004.

AWDHK works towards the advancement of women with all categories with disabilities, to enhance their social status and quality of life, with the ultimate goal of "Achieving self-reliance and building a civic community for all.".
